First of all, an email I received from a sweet friend in Michigan the other day. She keeps me in stitches with things Marines-related since she knows I'm a Marine wife and mother through and through, but I thought this was funny. As they say: Once a Marine; always a Marine. That goes for the families of Marines also. And so true!

Two Texas Highway Patrol officers were conducting speeding enforcement on Hwy 77, just south of Kingsville, Texas.

One of the officers was using a hand held radar device to check speeding vehicles approaching the town of Kingsville. The officers were suddenly surprised when the radar gun began reading 300 miles per hour and climbing.

The officer attempted to reset the radar gun, but it would not reset and then it suddenly turned off.

Just then a deafening roar over the mesquite tree tops on Hwy 77 revealed that the radar had in fact locked onto a USMC F/1-18 Hornet, which was engaged in a low flying exercise near this, its Naval Air home base location in Kingsville, Texas.

Back at the Texas Highway Patrol Headquarters in Corpus Christi, the Patrol Captain fired off a complaint to the US Naval Base Commander in Kingsville for shutting down his equipment.

The reply came back in true USMC style:

'Thank you for your letter...

You may be interested to know that the tactical computer in the Hornet had detected the presence of, and subsequently locked on to, your hostile radar equipment and automatically sent a jamming signal back to it, which is why it shut down.

Furthermore, an Air-to-Ground missile aboard the fully armed aircraft had also automatically locked on to your equipment's location.

Fortunately, the Marine pilot flying the Hornet recognized the situation for what it was, quickly responded to the missile system alert status and was able to override the automated defense system before the missile was launched to destroy the hostile radar position on the side of Hwy 77 South of Kingsville.

The pilot suggests you cover your mouths when cussing at them, since the video systems on the jets are very high tech.

Sgt. Johnson, the officer holding the radar gun, should get his dentist to check his left rear molar. It appears the filling is loose. Also, the snap is broken on his holster.'

Semper Fi
Even is this is not a true story, it is definitely something the Marines would do. I love it no matter what it is.

Do you love beautiful vignettes? I sure do, so today I'm showing you some to drool over. Come along.

I'm pretty sure this is that little cozy cabin in the New York hills that is so popular. Most of us would give a few years of our life to have something this darling to relax and dream in. Not me! I want all the years I have left and then some.

I think this is adorable to have in a bathroom counter top as I doubt it would fit on most tubs.

White slipcovers and old trunks as coffee tables are a favorite of mine.

I truly would love a kitchen this quaint. When I get the ladder up in my laundry room (Or should I say, when hubs decides I've nagged him enough and gives in to do the chore?) I'm going to put some hanging spray painted cans up there with faux roses in them.

A white ruffled shower curtain!! Love it.

White slip-covered sofa, mismatched dining chairs, white room divider, darling chandelier.

Wouldn't you like to have these dress forms for yourself? Ooooh my gosh, how gorgeous!

Sigh....

Double sigh.....

Mud room? Sun porch? Kitchen? Dining room?

Surely an antique mirror would make my bedroom gorgeous. Hmmmm, I did buy new pillows a couple of weeks ago.

Sweet.

Go do something extraordinary today, if not for someone else, then for yourself. While you're at it, smell some roses.
